PHYS. DES.: About 5'9" and sill growing; Wiry; Dark brown hair, cut just above his ears and with a rough side parting on the ; Striking blue eyes; Fair skin; Not handsome but has something nice about him; Has a permanent look of abashment and earnestness on his face;
WEARS: Generally tan/beige/cream breeches, a cotton shirt, soft, brown leather boots and sometimes a jerkin or cloak depending on the weather. Carries two daggers in his belt.
PERSONALITY: Is a very honest, genuine sort of fellow, but quite timid and easily abashed. Is very eager to do things well and as quickly as he can; this puppy-like quality is almost endearing. He is obedient and tractible. Doesn't have much education as he is a peasant, but Erica is teaching him to read, write, do maths and speak different languages.
STRENGTHS: He's very willing, loyal and quite dexterous. Has a certain degree of skill with daggers and is a fair shot with a bow. Likes horses and works well with them. He has a high aptitude for languages and always tries very hard to learn as much as he can and Erica is secretly a little proud of his quick mind; Knows his place in society; He is also a fine singer and plays the reed-pipes but he keeps this fact hidden most of the time; He's an excellent cook.
WEAKNESSES: Is very shy and easily cut down to size; isn't very strong at maths; Has quite low self-esteem and is a compulsive nail-biter and fidgetter due to this; Is too timid to be much of a fighter; Is afraid of bats, for no particular reason, he just is.
COMPANIONS: Travels with the Dragon Slayer, Erica Von Ritzenzig, her destrier Diable and her Doberman Wroth. Also has a fine, bay palfrey mare of his own of his own called Lenitas. Hans is responsible for the pack horse and pack mule as well.
BRIEF HISTORY:
His life story is not particularly interesting. He was born in the peasant village of Grunich, within the fief of Stallion's Hollow in the country of Drasenreich. His father was a poor farmer and his mother worked as kitchen staff in the castle of the fief's owner, Lord Wilhelm.
When Hans was about 8 his mother found him work as an errand boy in the castle and as he got older he took on other serving roles. Eventually when Wilhelm's first-born daughter, Erica was to leave on her career as a Dragon Slayer, Hans was chosen to be her personal servant.
Hans has travelled with the knight ever since, working hard with cooking, cleaning and everyday tasks. He follows where Erica goes and tries to obey to the best of his ability.
