Alex Jhost grew up in a small suburb just outside of Seattle with his mother, a registered Nurse, and his father, a martial artist who while not greatly known had some accomplishment among the tourney racket. Alex looked up to his father very much and started training in Cuong-Nhu at the age of eight and an interesting offshoot of Aikido which his father originally trained in. The fact that his mother was also a nurse came in very handy during the next few years as he started learning the Bo in addition. After home schooling Alex followed into his father's footsteps and learned that while a staff is good, a rod is better. So he began using a metal pole that was taller than himself to both gain a reach advantage and build his upper body. The fact that the minor illegal fights he had started getting into preferred it was just a side note.

One night after a fight he arrived home to find his parents draped across the living room in their own blood and just as he turned was mobbed by things which he had stopped believing in years earlier. A red veil fell over his mind then and when he awoke it was to a completely different world. One where his mind had blocked out the horrible events and created a constant delusion of how he had come to where he was as well as WHO he was. The only thing he knew was that his sole purpose now was to perfect his art, and thereby himself. Maybe, his subconscious told him, if he could do that it would make things right..

 

At least that is what he thinks....

The truth is that he is merely an aspect of the being known as Jayge D'Raza. An unplanned outcome of an explosion which nearly destroyed the building he was in. When Jayge sleeps, that is when Val sometimes comes out, whether he's a creation of a fractured psyche or a regeneration of one of the "donors" which were used to create him is yet to be seen.
