Growing up in a small town in the North Valley of California, Jayge was plagued in his childhood by sporadic bouts of what the doctors labeled "unoriginated epilepsy," which basically meant that they couldn't find a reason why he had seizures. Although this disorder and an overprotective mother severely limited his social life it made him love books, something his father had instilled in him. And so, growing up he spent most of his time alone and reading or doing puzzles, for he loved those as well (especially word games). With an inclination to the darker side he was fascinated by the supernatural; perhaps due to all the stories he read ( he had read Stephen King's "The Stand" by age 12..so maybe you have an idea of his love for books) or the movies and television he watched. In high school Jayge started watching more and more crime shows, particularly "Law & Order" and the sort as he had gained an interest in Law Enforcement. Thinking he may go into service he even took two years of Administration of Justice, and also managed to get a hold of an old guitar and a junked computer from a yard sale. And that is partly where his journey begins... for it was these things which would ultimately shape his life's path and guide him to his destiny, though he neither knew nor believed in it.

After High school he attended [college] on a scholarship, majoring in Computer Science with Forensics as a minor. The time went fairly quickly as he still lived a mostly sheltered life, the time between classes being either used for work or reading or the myriad shows he tried to keep up with. There was a brief romantic relationship but the differing paths they had took them too far apart and it became just a memory. Once he had his degrees and tried to find something that he could be content doing it turned out that there were more qualified people, not enough positions, or any of a dozen other factors which prevented him from being hired in anything but an entry or low-level position. With this knowledge he hired on with a private detective agency and went back to school, this time quenching his interest in the occult and all the folklore and mythology which had intrigued him so much growing up. He even played the clubs at night on occasion and discovered that while being far from a Hendrix he wasn't that bad. And so it went, the time slipping through the hourglass almost like a dream, and one day he woke up.

Having attained a status among his peers as one of the leading consultants and even being compared to Mulder a few times, it may have seemed like fate which brought him to the south side of Boston to consult for local police on a serial killing case. Bodies mutilated by a killer exhibiting an unnatural strength, the bodies exsanguinated and placed in the center of a circle of arcane symbols almost ritualistically. And while he did find the woman responsible for the crimes, he was in turn was found by her master; she was a ghoul and at the time Jayge knew not of the intricacies of the Masquerade. The Diabolist's name was Kantios and in his vanity he wanted his story told...published even.

During one of the nightly sessions Kantios' other childe came calling for revenge and nearly slaughtered both Kantios and Jayge. Kantios having just killed one childe decided to replace it with another and gave the dying Jayge a choice. Live forever under his tutelage or die and face whatever was on the other side. Taking the obvious choice of many dying mortals Jayge was embraced; but something went wrong and he rose to find Kantios gone and the thirst upon him. Luckily he was not overcome and the first night fed from various muggers and animals. Making his way back home he sold his house and most of his belongings and left in search of the only thing he could remember that might help him, a name Kantios had once mentioned with derision and vengeance....the name of De`Moire.
