Pulse, formerly the Communicator, is a student-run magazine at Hofstra University. As part of the Journalism Department, students are given the experience in: writing their own feature & magazine stories, copy editing, being a managing editor, shooting photographs, gathering advertisements and even art director.
Each class, held in room 146 Dempster Hall, is setup like a meeting, where the students discuss photos, stories and every other aspect of the issue they will publish near the end of each school semester.
Professor Carol Fletcher serves as the class moderator and advisor with more than twenty years of experience in the magazine industry, working for such publications as Discover and Time.
If you love to write, take photographs, draw or have an interest in graphic design and/or web pages...stop by room 146, Dempster Hall any Monday or Friday between 11:10 and 12:35 p.m.
We are always eager to meet new people and new talent!
