         Memories of You

The angry words fly back to me
  In vivid reds and blues
In bursts of hate and snarling teeth
  My memories of you.

I tried so hard to please you
There was nothing I could do
Right was wrong and wrong was right
  In my memories of you

But now, with grateful thanks to God
  The pain and hurt retreats,
The evil that I felt in you
  Has suffered a defeat

  For you are only human
With pain and hurt like me
  That God will gladly heal
If you'll let him set you free

So I pray to our Creator
To cast out all your fears
To consume you with His peaceful love
  And always draw you near.
