Puja
Lalmalani is an actor, writer, dancer, choreographer, and teaching
artist. She is currently in
her third-year at the American Conservatory Theater(A.C.T.) in San
Francisco, where she is working towards her M.F.A. in Acting. A.C.T has served as a training
ground to theatre, film and TV actors such as Oscar-winning Denzel Washington,
Oscar-nominated Annette Bening, Oscar-nominated Winona Ryder,
Emmy-nominated Benjamin Bratt, and Tony-winning and Tony-nominated actors,
Anika Noni Rose (Caroline, Or Change) and Omar Metwally (Sixteen Wounded).
A
Chicago native, Puja is a graduate of Northwestern University. Before attending A.C.T., she spent
two years in New York City, where she worked as an actor and dancer. Her work has been seen on several
off-Broadway and off-Broadway stages, including the New York Theater
Workshop, Theater For the New City, SALAAM Theater and with the theatre
group, Peeling. On screen, she
has played principal roles in the independent features, Indian Fish (www.indianfish-themovie.com)
and Arya.
This year Puja played Belle in the ACT mainstage
production of A
Christmas Carol,
directed by Carey Perloff and adapted by Paul Walsh and Carey Perloff. She also was seen in Caucasion
Chalk Circle
and On the Bum,
a new play by Neal Bell, both at Zeum at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
Puja will graduate in May 2006 and will next be
seen in the A.C.T. Graduate Showcase in SF, NYC, and LA. The Showcase is an opportunity for
the A.C.T. graduating class to present their work to the theatrical, TV,
