Fly-Fishing has long been a family sport for us. Every Spring, Summer, and Fall, we wait for the flies to start hatching, the River to go down, and the Dandies to start jumping.

Brothers, Uncles, Father, Friends, it is a wonderful way to connect with nature and enjoy this art-form in and of itself. If you don't believe me, watch "A River Runs Through It" to get an idea of what it's like.

This year I am tying my own flies for the first time and am looking forward to outsmartting a trout with my own imitation fly. They say there is nothing like it.

Highlights of last Year were:

~Chewy unknowingly fishing right next to a snapping turtle and proceeding to fall into the drink.

~Mark pulling out Dandy after Dandy on his homeade "Blindy Specials".

~Daddy and my Uncles watching on proudly as I pulled out a couple too!!

This section will be reserved for some more "fishtales" and pictures of our Fishing Escapades 2003.

~Quotes on Fly-Fishing
I pray that I live to fish until my dying day, and when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray, when in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully asleep, that I be judged BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP!

When a man picks up a fly rod for the first time, he may not know, he has been born again. ~Joseph D. Farris

Come follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Matthew 4:19

He told us about Christ's disciples being fisherman, and we were left to assume...that all great fishermen on the Sea of Galilee were fly fisherman and that John, the favorite, was a dry-fly fisherman."
~ Norman Maclean-A River Runs Through It

To catch the fish you must be the fish.  But, if you are also what you eat, you must also surly be the fly. What if you try to eat yourself then you become you all over
again. Oh the insanity of becoming a fly fisherman. The peace is in doing and not thinking so much.  ~ Justin W. Felter

Fly-Fishing helps you understand just how unimportant your big real life problems really aren't." ~The Little Trout Fly-Fishing Book

I've learned that the key to success is to change flies frequently.  Only letting 1-2 drifts with each fly pass by the fish. Any more than two drifts with the same fly will surely put them down and make them  much harder to catch. ~unknown

Spring 2003 Fishing Diary

Sunday, April 27th - Mark and I went fishing in Gaylordsville, I caught nothing but hooked into my boot and sweatshirt....... Left before the good hatch. Mark stayed and met up with Chewy.
Tuesday April 29th- Went fishing with Mark at the Cellar Hole tonite. Right around 7:30pm, a "Super-Hatch" of streamers emerged making the evening sky over the river appear to be snowing with flies. The dandies started juping. I caught 2  - The fisrt was caught on a hendrickson emerger and the other on an Adams fly. Both Blindy specials. Mark caught a HUGE dandy trout at least 15 inches long  (he says it was longer) on Adams flies.
