| Confronting Americana |
| Do you know society Dictates your stress, Your attitude, your dress? That T.V. is politics Or that government Trammels our progress? Libretarian, vegetarian, The right to vote Leather-clad, postmodern neophytes Preaching the de-garbing Of fur coats. Is that survival Or revival, Of the stone age? Have you noticed our children Are so full of rage? Did you know that random idiots Are getting paid And getting off on the slow torture of our Innocent Animal brethren.... Is capital punishment fitting Is it a sin? Do you believe In miracles, men from outer space, Tinme travel, Life on other planets, A superior race? Or Nostradamuses predictions, and Cayce's inflictions... In Fatima, a Catholic shrine or Muhammed's grace? Did you know drugs Are being prescribed to us That are more deadly That some of the illegal ones? Do you deal with guilt or offer professions? Do you live with remorse Over contemplating suicide, abortion, divorce? Or go to confession for Masturbation, premarital sex, All forgiven if you Remember to genuflect? Do you believe in God What is his name? Jesus, Allah, Buddha, Great Spirit, All one in the same? Science or Religion, Fact or fiction? Was it evolution, Or the Garden of Eden? That we came from Adam's rib, Or the Big Bang reason? And what of living A century at best, Then we go down For permanant rest? Do you think that's it Or perhaps heaven? Maybe back like the cat For one more, plus seven? Is it reincarnation... Or ceasing to exist Perpetual nonthing-ness Or just another test? Will we live to see Apocolypse, World War III That chemical demon The antichrist, or armagedon.. Or when the world will cease Revelations, the second coming, 2000 years of peace? Eternal rejoice Or irrelevant choice? Buried or burned, To the worms Or the urn, Or is this world Our coffin? |
