God's Timing I have always wanted to homeschool my children before we even knew we could have any. In God's timing, we weren't able to have children until ten years into our marriage. I had plenty of time to read about homeschooling and to prepare myself for this challenge. Even with all that time to prepare, I still felt unprepared.

God's Planning I began by pulling curriculum from various places to teach the basics of numbers, letters, colors etc. to my daughter. Homeschooling worked out perfectly for us when my father-in-law was diagnosed with terminal cancer and we found our selves traveling frequently to the other end of our state to take our turns at caring for him in the end stages of cancer. That lasted about three months. If Sarah had been in the traditional school setting, either I would not have been able to travel with my husband or she would have missed a lot of school. She was in the early elementary grades at the time, so a missed day of school here and there really didn't hurt her any.

God's Moving After my father-in-law died, we put our home up for sale and within 8 months we moved across state to the corner furthest away from where we were. Once moved, I began to homeschool both our children. God's Testing Within two years of moving, I had surgery, a broken rib, a diagnosis of osteoporosis, debilitating side effects to an osteoporosis drug, sustained a whiplash in a car accident and subsequently suffered with a bout of depression from the pain and stress of it all. God's Supply I was ready to give up homeschooling and put my children in public school because I could not cope with the stress of lesson plans and teaching with all that I was going through. What saved our homeschool was discovering Switched On Schoolhouse by Alpha Omega. It literally saved the life of our homeschool.
