| Do All to the Glory of God by Marsha |

| I was impressed recently at church with the idea that we are to do everything to the glory of God. For example, if God has called you to be a garbage collector, then you should collect the garbage to the glory of God. If the idea of doing all things to the glory of God pervades our thinking, then we will be motivated to do the best job we can. However, as I began to think on this, I realized this could bring a lot of guilt on those of us who have chronic health conditions. Sometimes our health prevents us from doing the best job possible or from doing a job that needs to be done. Dear Friend, we don't have to feel guilty or beat ourselves up because we can't keep things up to the standard we feel would be glorifying to God. Hebrews 4:15 tells us, For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Jesus knows our weaknesses. He knows our limits. He also knows our heart's desires to gorify Him. There are times when He calls us to rest on the couch or even lay in bed due to our physical condition! We can do even this to the glory of God by the attitude we have as we respond to our circumstances. Dear Father, Our desire is to honor and glorify you in all that we do. Help us to keep this formost in our thoughts and actions as we go about the callings you have given us. Amen. |
