There is an appeal process that in some cases you can be reexamined by your own physician. Details will be included in your letter with your physical results.
What if I have to miss a training day at the academy?
There are make-up days that can be attended during the week, while the academy in session.
How can I prepare for the training academy?
Most applicants do not have problems with the swimming but some swimmers have problems with distance running. So it is advisable to do some distance running as well as push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups.
How are the Lifeguards scheduled?
Most lifeguard shifts are 10-hour days, four days per week.
How many hours will I be scheduled my first summer?
Most first-year lifeguards range between 20 and 40 hours per week, depending on how many lifeguards are returning from the prior summer. Hours for first year lifeguards usually increase toward the end of summer as others leave for school.
What if i need some days off during the summer?
There are procedures for requesting time off. Most requests can be accommodated if requested well enough in advance.
Lifeguards are paid every month on the 15th of the month following the month you worked.. If you sign up for direct deposit then you get paid twice a month on the 15th and the 30th.
