| For all of you that don't know, "Rubber Chicken" is a great tradition. Basically, there's this rubber chicken, Chuck, and he's super cool. Ferris High School and Lewis & Clark High School each have "Rubber Chicken Week" which is sort of like Homecoming, each day has it's own theme and so on. Each school picks a theme, ours this year was "Old School Rock", sorta like Schoolhouse Rock...you know, those videos? LC's was something to do with the Wizard of Oz...I don't remember. At the end of the week, our basketball teams play each other, and each student body sits on either side of the arena...we have props and special cheers...and we basically have a spirit war the whole game. (Ferris bball always wins, which is cool). Each school has tshirts that are specially made for the event (I'm wearing mine in the picture). Anyway, we're judged, and whoever shows the most spirit during that week and during the game wins Chuck. We lost Chuck last year, but this year we got him back, which was cool. A big group of us girls skipped out on school that day so we could go eat out and have a good time before the game...we had a blast. Rubber Chicken is a wacky tradition, but I'm so glad I got to be a member of the Ferris student body and join in on the fun! |
