| Here's how YOU can join....just send a picture (we need proof, ya know) and a short decription of your encounter to either Liz at [email protected] or Angela at [email protected] . If you didn't get a picture of you with a TDS cast member, but have an autographed picture from them ADDRESSED TO YOU, and still have a fun story about, you can be in the club. We'll be in contact with you as soon as possible. As a member, we'll try to plan to go to TDS tapings the same day in order to really impress our tv buddies. Thanks,you lucky duck you ! |

| One night, my mother asked me if I wanted to be an extra on a television show. A friend of hers was a casting director for a new show that was going to be on Comedy Central, called Strangers with Candy. So, I said ok. Hey, I got to miss school and get paid for it ! My brothers and I headed to an abandoned school in Paramus at around seven in the morning and just waited a long time. After some people decided we were dressed appropriately, they took us into what looked like an art classroom, only with a lot more tv cameras. One of my brothers and I were seated next to eachother. I looked over and said," Oh my God!!! It's Stephen Colbert!!!" He said, "Who?" My brothers and I somehow made an impression on Stephen and some of the other cast members -- and we became pretty close. After the show was cancelled, I told him how he was my favorite TDS correspondent --since he was "The New Guy". He gave me a hug and said "Keep in touch". This was in September 2000, and ever since, we have kept in touch. What a guy !!! |
| I was talking with my friend while waiting in line for my third Daily Show taping when my mom tapped me on the shoulder and said, "Ang, is that Steve Carell"? I looked, but he had already passed and wasn't wearing his usual suit, so it ws hard to tell. I've never seen a cast member just walk by the line, so I figured it couldn't have been him. About ten minutes later, my dad said, "Ang, it's him ! Come here." I went up to Steve and introduced myself. I told him what a huge fan of his I was. He said "Aww, thanks." I mentioned that I was also from the Boston area and we discussed that a little. I then asked if I could please have a picture with him and an autograph. He said, "Sure! " He then gave me the inside scoop...that he was going to be doing a Produce Pete segment. I told him I loved those and was very excited. I had the best time yet ! Thank you Steve !! |
