Preparing to tape the moment of zen.
Taping is over. Audience leaves and the desk and couch get covered up with protecting tarps.
3:00 -- Arrive in Manhattan. We anticipated more traffic and ended up getting to the studio earlier than we had planned.
3:45 -- Got in line. We were the first fans in line.
5:00 -- A few fans arrived between 4 and 5, but most showed up after 5.
5:30 -- V.I.P. ticket holders are let inside to the waiting area.
5:45 -- General ticket holders are let inside.
6:30 -- After being told we would only be in the waiting area for 10 minutes, we are finally let inside the studio. V.I.P. are seated first, then the first in line for general tickets, and lastly the last in line for general tickets whom were given "stand by" cards. The first thing I noticed was how small the studio was compaired to how it looks on t.v.. It was a lot smaller than I expected! We had really great seats eventhough more than half the audience was V.I.P.'s. We were in the top rowof the section closest to the big screen and were seated in the middle of the studio. I was happy with these seats because if we sat any closer, the cameras would be in the way of seeing the whole studio.
6:50 -- The warm up guy comes out. He asked the audience questions about themselves. ( " Anyone here from outta state?")
7:10 -- Jon Stewart comes out. Answers questions from the audience and tells us which correspondents will be on the show and what guests are here.
7:20 -- Started taping. Guests interviews were first. Jerry Springer was first, then Leah Remini (from "The King of Queens" cbs) whose interview was being pre-taped for another show. In between interviews there is a break in which Jon and the warm up guy talk a bit with the audience. Next was the top of the show and headlines, which included Steve Carell's "on site reporting" on President Bush's new environmental plan. Then, it was Vance DeGeneres's last segment. After that segment was taped, Jon said goodbye and good luck to Vance (it was his last show) and everyone applauded Vance. Lastly, the ending of the show was taped after which Jon thanked the audience for coming.
8:00 -- The show is over and we file out of the seats and leave the studio with fond memories of an unbelievably fun experience.
