| Steve's Bio Steve was born in Concord, Massachusetts August 16, 1962. His hometown is Acton, Massachusetts. Steve first got a taste for acting at age 6, in his first grade Thanksgiving play "The Roar of the Greasepaint...the Smell of the Turkey". After graduating from Denison University in the late '80's, he thought of a career as an attorney, but then quickly decided to pursue acting-"the more dignified and financially stable of the two". He was a member of The Second City Resident Company in Chicago from 1989 to 1991. From Chicago, he worked off Broadway in New York City. Next, Steve went to Los Angeles where he acted in many televison series such as Over the Top which starred Tim Curry and Annie Potts and aired in 1997, The Dana Carvey Show ( which he also served as a writer), and Just Shoot Me. He is the voice of Gary and many other characters on the animated Saturday Night Live Series "The Ambiguously Gay Duo", and also appeared in the John Hughes film, Curly Sue. Since 1999, Steve has been a correspondent on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Steve has appeared most recently in Fed Ex commercials and the NBC series Watching Ellie. Steve lives in New Jersey with his wife, co-Daily Show cast member, Nancy Walls. They had their first child, Elizabeth Anne Carell, May 25, 2001. They also have a golden retriever named Stuart. |
