Team Name - The Halifax Mooseheads were named after Moosehead breweries. Harold McKay is the team's founder and was vice-president of Moosehead breweries sales at the time (1994). It's the only team in the league to be named after a company. Moosehead Breweries, the oldest independent brewery in Canada, owns 60 per cent of the hockey club. "The deal was that we wanted a majority ownership, but we also wanted other local owners to make it more of a local hockey team," says Danny O'Hearn, a sales representative for the brewery. "So we went out and got eight other owners to join us. "It's been great for our company's profile in the Maritimes. That's one reason we got involved. It's also part of our community involvement. It's taking leadership by bringing the first major junior franchise to the Maritimes."Team Colors - Red, green, and white. Their logo combines an "H" for Halifax and the head of a moose. Road jerseys are red with green trim on the shoulders. Home jerseys are white, with red trim on the shoulders. The Mooseheads introduced a third jersey on Oct 10, 2001. It's black with red trim on the shoulders and antler style numbers. Location - Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada is the largest urban area east of Quebec City.
