Lessard, White shown the door
From Mooseheads Unofficial

Forwards Louis-Philippe Lessard and Ryan White have been told they have no future with the hockey club.

In an effort to settle their overage question marks, general manager Marcel Patenaude told both players they were well down on the team's depth chart.

Forwards Brandon Benedict and Bruce Gillis as well as defencemen Louis Mandeville and Patrick Gilbert will battle for the three positions at training camp.

On paper it looks like a no brainer and that Gillis will be released and rumors indicate he will play university hockey with Saint Mary's if this happens but that may not be the case.

Mandeville could still sign a professional contract and leave the club and another rumor has Gilbert being dealt to Moncton as part of the Patrick Thoresen deal which is expected to be completed this weekend.

Patenaude has stated that there are no trades on the table right now other than the Thoresen package which is the worst kept secret in the league.

Lessard had 7 goals and 5 assists for 12 points in 27 games for Halifax. He came over from Drummondville in the Sebastien Laprise deal and scored the game winner in overtime in the first game of the second round playoff series with Cape Breton.

White was the enforcer of the club and led the team with 334 penalty minutes. With 8 goals and 10 assists in 66 games he wasn't the most gifted player but played with a ton of heart and was one of the most popular players with the fans.
