| OK, so what's this league doing in this list? Well, I think this forgotten league made some pretty neat pucks. Interesting enough to do some digging into this league's
history. The Metro Junior Hockey League co-existed with another Jr 'B' league in the Montreal area (Montreal Jr'B'). In 1972, the Montreal league split apart with 1/3 of it's teams helping form the new Quebec Tier II Jr'A' league, 1/3 going to the Richelieu Jr'B' league and 1/3 joining the MJHL. Thus, the MJHL was a large 16 team league in the 1972-73 season. They stayed a large Jr'B' league throughout most of the 1970's. Late in the 1970's, the league lost a few teams and by 1979, they had dropped to an 11 team loop. Then the league disappeared. The Junior seen was rearranged and the MJHL was no more. During the 1970's, the league put out some interesting pucks. What makes them stand apart from many other junior pucks is their league logos on the reverse. The pucks were very well done. I've tried to help clarify information on the teams in this league and when they played. I hope you find this of interest. |
