The Viceroy slug was first used by Canadian based teams back in 1973. They did not gain full league acceptance until 1977. Most of the pucks were issued on the large type 'CANADA' slug that was common after 1975. However, pucks have appeared issued on the older slug with the smaller type 'CANADA' slug. This would be expected for the Canadian teams.
