The Finborough Theatre has been a London fringe venue for about 20 years.  Since 1994, the resident production company has been the Steam Industry, which specializes in new plays.

The Finborough Pub and Theatre has recently been totally renovated.  There have been major upgrades to both the pub area and the theatre space.  The pub has been significantly upgraded and there is now a DJ bar with digital music system in the basement.

The Finborough's production of David Farr's "Nevill Southall's Washbag" was revised into the West End play, "Elton John's Glasses".  Another show to move on to a bigger production after the Finborough was Anthony Neilson's "The Censor" which transferred to the Royal Court Theatre.

Among the writers who've honed there skills with productions at the Finborough are: Mark Ravenhill ("Fucking and Shopping"), David Eldridge ("Serving it Up") and Naomi Wallace ("Slaughter City").  All of whom have gone on to major success at other theatres from the West End to the Bush to the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Other successful productions include Rodney Ackland's adaptation of Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment", and of Christopher Preston's "The Davids".

The theatre is located upstairs above the pub.  The pub has recently changed hands and is much more friendly towards theatre goers that it used to be. It is a nice little place for a drink before or after the show, with a pool table and friendly staff.

The Finborough Theatre has its own web page at http://www.finboroughtheatre.co.uk/

The pub also has a web page at http://www.thefinborough.com/
