Description:
The Brockley Jack Theatre is located in the Brockley Jack public house. The pub is said to be the former haunt of highway men. The name is believed to refer to Jack Law a highway man known to frequent the area. The pub was built in 1898 and the interesting inn sign at the entrance was made out of the shoulder blade of a whale.
The theatre is situated behind the bar in a room that used to be used as a function room. It has been transformed into a fully functional theatre with lighting sound and even raised seating. The kind of work produced at Brockley Jack ranges from comedy/variety shows to classics.
The space is very intimate and the pub is closely related to the theatre making it a great place to spend the whole evening.
The theatre closed for about a year in 2002 but reopened in December 2003.
They have their own web site at www.brockleyjack.co.uk.
