There will be a public forum on the proposed Shelby County
schools Bible class curriculum to be held at Bartlett High School
at 6:30 on Thursday, January 17th. (Bartlett High School's
address is 5688 Woodlawn Rd., Bartlett, TN) The author of
the curriculum, Matthew Hicks, of the Bible Literacy Project,
will appear and discuss the Introduction to the Hebrew Scriptures
Course which is slated to be offered in the fall in all county
high schools.
The public will also have an opportunity to ask questions.
Americans United for Separation of Church and State officially
opposes the Bible Literacy Project because it attempts to bring
organized and state sanctioned Bible reading and study into
public schools. For more information on this group, go to: www.nationbible.org.
Also, please plan to attend the public forum and be ready with
your questions and comments for Mr. Hicks.
