FT-50R. First Dual Band Handheld Radio to Achieve Prestigious MIL-STD 810 Rating.
ft50-dualwatch.jpg (10774 bytes)
Use Dual Watch to select any frequency combination and the FT-50R automatically switches channels for instant operation. Plus, the built-in Digital battery Voltage feature can be used to monitor current operating battery voltage.
The FT-50R is manufactured to rigid commercial grade standards, and is the only amateur dual band HT to achieve a MIL-STD 810 rating. Plus the FT-50R is the first dual band HT to include Digital Coded Squelch (DCS), super loud audio, and the "widest"band receive allowable. In fact, the FT-50R is the smallest 5-Watt dual band with wide band receive. The FT-50R is rugged, reasonably priced, simple to operate, and has all the features you want
FT-50R Super Wide Band Receive
Receiver coverage includes 76-200 MHz (VHF), 300-540 MHz (UHF) and 590-999 MHz*. This HT includes 3 user-selectable filters: AM aircraft receive, FM narrow and FM wide.

Military-Standard 810 Rating
The FT 50/10/40R HTs have all achieved a MIL-STD 810 Rating. Built to rigid commercial-grade radio standards, these handhelds are designed to withstand the rigors of shock, vibration, and the corrosive action of dust and moisture. Water resistant construction utilising weather-proof  gaskets, seal major internal components. Each is encased in high-impact, polycarbonate material for the greatest measure of endurance.
Digital Code Squelch
The Digital Code Squelch system (DCS) included on the FT-50/IO/40R is similar to CTCSS tone squelch as it uses sub-audible tones to silently monitor busy channels. Both Ringer and Tone Scanning functions are available with DCS. DCS permits semi-private operation between two stations on the same frequency.
Memory Channels
The FT-50R has 112 memory channels including two Home Memory channels. FT-10/40R handhelds are available with either 99 or 30 memory channels depending on optional keypad model installed.
12V DC Direct Input
Extend operation to 5 full Watts of output power with a 12V DC car adapter (E-DC-5B) while in mobile use.
High Speed Scanning
Scanning functions of the FT-50/10/40R HTs permit multiple settings in VFO and memory modes. Control Scan from the keypad, on the Top Notch knob on the top of the radio.
Alphanumeric Display
Up to 48 characters are available for use in naming or identifying channels. Use 4 character numbers or letters, or a combination, to distinguish each name or frequency identification. View them all in the large Omni-Glow display.

CTCSS Encode (Decode w/FTT-12)
CTCSS accesses repeaters and stations which require continuous sub-audible  tones. CTCSS decode alone, silently monitors busy channels, enables the Ringer function. and scans CTCSS tones.
Auto Range Transpond System (ARTS)
The Auto Range Transpond System uses DCS to allow two radios to automatically track one another every 25 seconds. The ARTS feature can be used with other Yaesu ARTS m/DCS-equipped transceivers. Audible tones, and display characters signal when in simplex range.

Direct FM
Direct FM improves voice quality, packet performance, and permits DCS operation.
High Audio Output
New technology and high efficiency speaker design produce super audio output.
Dual Watch
Dual Watch enables you to check sub-band activity while receiving on another frequency. When a signal is detected, operation automatically shifts to the sub-band frequency.
Optional Digital Voice Recording System (DVRS)
Digital Voice Recording System (DVRS) uses the microphone to record and store messages for playback manually or over the air, and record received signals either manually or automatically.
Battery Savers
Automatic PowerOff Helps conserve battery power. Choose from 5 user selectable levels at I/Z 1, 3. 5 or 8 hours of key activity Plus, manual shut off.

Receive Battery Saver Places the receiver to "sleep" during quiet operation. User-selectable time/ratio increments are available.

Selectable Power Output Four levels of power output: Low h Low 2, Low 3. and High extend battery life. Choose the lowest level power output whenever possible.

Transmit Battery Saver Monitors signal strength of last received signal. then selects one of four TX output power levels to conserve battery life.

Time Out Timer This user selectable feature of the FT-50R ends transmission at pre set times in 1, 2.5. 5 or 10 minute intervals. For the FT-10/40R,TOT is 2.5 minutes. Plus, manual shut off.

Rear Mount Battery
Unique clam shell case design permits rear-mount battery. Both 2.5(UHF2.0W) and 5Watt batteries have same configuration, ensuring compact radio length in both Versions.

PTT Thumb Switch
Designed to eliminate hand fatigue during long key downs, the up/down thumb switch is placed on the top corner, precisely conforming to a natural hand grip. Another example of Yaesu user-designed, operating-efficiency engineering.
Optional ADMS-1C Windows PC Programmable Software
Quickly program features, create memory files for different cities, including frequencies, alpha names and CTCSS/DCS tones. Use for cloning programming to other compatible Yaesu radios.
