Family of Marvin E. Gustafson (d. 1981)  and
Donna M. Chamberlin Gustafson

Donna, Marvin, and Alan, taken approx. 1953.
Marvin was born on June 15, 1925, in Port Wing.  He was a scrappy kid who excelled in baseball.  Ernest had a switch that he kept over the doorframe.  Maravin was the unhappy recipient of many spankings from Ernest.  Emogene would play with him and Eloise to keep them occupied.

Marvin played semi-pro baseball with the Superior Blues for a few years.  He also received a tryout with the Cardinals major league professional baseball team.  According to some stories, Marvin was asked by the coaching staff to throw a few balls to the batters.  Marvin tossed a few pitches without trying to strike anyone out.  Without knowing it, that was his tryout.  He didn't make that team, but he was one heck of a pitcher.

Marvin was a very good artist as well.  He drew excellent cartoons and created excellent pictures.  Marvin never said a harsh word about anyone.  He was a very friendly fellow, well-liked by all who knew him.

Marvin eventually married Donna.  For awhile Marvin and Donna lived in Washburn, where Marvin worked as an undersheriff.  After a few years Marvin and Donna moved to Denver, Colorado, where Marvin worked in construction.

Marvin died from a brain aneurysm in 1981.
