Eloise was born on April 7, 1928, in Port Wing. She was the youngest child in the Gustafson family. When Eloise was eight years old, the Gustafson family left the farm and moved into the little house in Port Wing.
Eloise was a very pretty, popular girl. Her nickname in the family was "Vesa". In high school in Port Wing, Eloise was on the school newspaper staff. According to some stories she helped to name the newspaper, the "POCOHO" (standing for Port Wing, Oulu, cornucopia, Herbster, and Orienta). That school newspaper is called that to this day at the high school in Port Wing.

Eloise married Philip "Biff" Jones and moved out to New York State. Eloise died of a cancerous brain tumor in 1983. |
