CS-262 Operating System (B.Tech 4th Semester,2063) Time : 3 Hours Maximum Marks : 60 NOTE:- This paper consist of Three Sections. Section A is compulsory. Do any Four questions from Section B and any two questions from Section C Section-A Marks : 20 1(a) What are the main components of an Operating System? (b) Define the need of Medium Term Scheduler. (c) What is non-preemption ? (d) Differentiate between Dispacher and Scheduler. (e) Why do we need Multilevel Paging ? (f) Name various methods for dealing with deadlocks. (g) What is the utility of Distributed Operating System.? (h) Why paging scheme is more suitable than MVT contiguos memory allocation? (i) What is the difference between a Trap and Interrupt ? (j) Name the file systems of Windows-NT, UNIX and DOS. Section-B Marks:5 Each 2. Compare and contrast the main features of Windows-NT and UNIX. 3.
