IC-206 ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD THEORY (B.Tech 4th Semester, 2063) Time : 3 Hours Maximum Marks : 60 NOTE:- This paper consist of Three Sections. Section A is compulsory. Do any Four questions from Section B and any two questions from Section C Section-A Marks : 20 1(a) What is the value of x ( V)?(b) Express .J in cylinderical co-ordinates.(c) Give the expression for divergence V for a given scalar function F (x, y, z). (d) What is the value of electric flux inside a conducting sphere? (e) What will the surface integral of electric field give? (f) Write Poission equation, if p = 0 is free space. (g) Give the relation between absolute and relative permeabilities. (h) What is the unit of displacement density? (i) A transmission line of length l < π/4 is short circuited at the far end. What will be the nature of input impedence? (j) What is the best medium to transmit EM waves in the frequency range 300 MHz to 30 GHz? Section-B Marks:5 Each 2. Write Laplace and Poission's equation and their applications. 3. State and explain Ampere's work law. 4. Show that the displacement current through the capacitor is equal to the conduction current 'I'. ![]() Use r = 80, σ = 4 mhos/m for sea water and r = 80, σ = 5 x 10-3 mho/m for fresh water.6. Write short note on the interpretation of E x H. Section-C Marks : 10 Each 7. A very long cylinderical conductor of radious 'a' has a charge 'q' coulombs per meter distributed along its length. Find the electric field strength 'E' in air normal to the surface of the conductor : (a) by applying Gauss's law (b) by finding the potential V and deriving the electric field strength from E = - V.8. The familiar statement of Ohm's law is I = V/R, where the direction of current flow is in the direction drop. Show that for an elemental volume, this law may be written as the vector point relation J = σ E. 9. A thick bass plate is plated with a 0.0005 inch thickness of silver. What is the surface impedence at: (a) 10 kHz (b) 1 MHz (c) 100 MHz ? Compare the surface impedence of the plated brass with that of solid brass plate. (for silver σ = 6.2 x 107, for brass σ = 1 x 107, for both assume that µ = µv, = v) |
