| EC-205 DIGITAL ELECTRONICS (B.Tech. 3rd Semester,2121) Time: 3Hours Maximum marks :60 Note:- This paper consist of three Serctions Section A is compulsory. Do any Four questions from Secion B and any Two questions from Section C. Section-A Marks:20 1. Discuss the following: (a) Applications of: (i) Code convertors (ii) ASCII, Excess-3 and Gray codes (iii) PLA (b) Classification and charactristics of various memories. (c) Difference of sequential and combinational circuits. (d) Relization of X-OR logic with the help of NOR gates only. (e) Comparision of the features of various A/D convertors. (f) How a 1 to 8 DEMUX can be Used as a decoder? (g) If x=101.111 and y=111.101, evalute x-y (using 2's complement). (h) Advantages of content addressable memories. Section-B Marks : 5 Each 2. Explain with the circuit of a look ahead carry generator. 3. Draw the circuit and explain the operation of a magnitude comparator. 4. Draw the circuit of a RAM memory cell and explain its operation. 5. Draw the circuit of an ECL logic and discuss its operation. 6. Draw the circuit of a 4 bit successive approximation A/D convertor and discuss its operation. Section-C Marks:10 Each 7. (a) Express the simplified expression using K-map and realize using NAND gate: F=B'.D+B'.C+ABCD d=A'.BD+A.B'C'D'. (b) Simplify the boolean expression into a minimum number of literals: (X+Y)'.(X'+Y')' (c) Discuss the features of ROM and its various varities 8. (a) Discuss the comparision of the importhant characteristics of: (i) Various IC logic families (ii) Various A/D convertors. 9. (a) Design a decade counter using the edge triggered J-K flip flops. (b) Draw the circuit of a 3-input TTL toterm pole output NAND gate and explain its operation. |
