Zen Buddhism
And The Samurai
The Samurai's Dream
The medieval Samurai of Japan have long been depicted as the consummate warriors of Asia. Their swordsmanship and military expertise were refind to such a degree of excellence that they became legendary figures in the annals of the martial arts. Though the physical trainning the Samurai underwent was intense and exacting, much of their skill was based not simply in their physical prowess, but in their mental refinement as well. The cultivated enlightened attiude which formed the framework for their martial arts abilities and their unique mental perspective in combat were both founded upon a philosophic approach to life know as Zen Buddhism.
Zen Is freedom. Zen freedom is the release from the know, the expected, the defined.

With freedom comes insightful understanding. From this is born a pathway to enlightenment.

Zen is a road which leads to Satori. Satori occurs when the mind of the individual is suddenly jolted into a new frame of perception not bound by the constraints of the commonly accepted thinking mind. From this, the individual encounters the Buddhamind.

Every day you possess the ability to go and make yourself a better, more enlightened individual. Like the river which never stops flowing untill it reaches the ocean, this life is your opportunity to continue flowing down the path of enlightenment, ultimately merging with the cosmic wholeness of the divine illumation.
