Restoration Process
Restoration goes through multiple steps towards achieving a better result.
First the wood trim is carefully prepared for restoration, this consists of removal of any plastic trim or shift boots.
Then the back is carefully masked off to prevent stains or leaks onto the melted on plastics.
The trim is now ready for stripping of the hard finish and will be sprayed with chemicals from 5 to 12 hours.
*If the veneer has cracks in it, filling, or repairing is undertaken.*
Once the hard finish has been removed, residue is removed and cleaned to prepare for staining.
The staining process differs for most situations depending on fade although, a few coats are to be applied.
Once the stain dries, cleaning off the surface level and removing any dust is important.
The spar urethane is applied until finish is built back to stock level. Usually it takes 3 days to achieve desired result.
With the last coat applied, a waiting time of 24 hours after which the sides and the switches are cleaned out,
the shift boot and any other plastic parts are reinstalled.
Estimated Total Time: 5 Days + 24 hours for drying and hardening of finish.
*If the veneer has cracks, or peeling, repair may take longer depending on situation.
