The Poptart Monkeys  formed in 1998 when current member and drummer, Rob Hamptons band were to play at a benefit show at WZXRs (Williamsport) Birthday Bash. Two of the members out of Hamptons band backed out, so he called a few friends, including  Paul Reddon, current lead vocalist. They quickly decided upon some songs to play at the show. After the show, they got such a great response from the crowd,  they decided to stay together.

There was just one problem,  the band had no name. While trying to decide on a name,, Rob Hamptons younger brother Joey jokingly thought of the name Poptart Monkeys. They thought that was a cool name,and decided to use it.
A  year later, shortly after they adopted that name, current members James Balogach and Bill Talanca joined.

The Poptart Monkeys have had one member, Dave Danishefsky, quit in 2000. Later an old friend of theirs, Chris Kurtz, who had stepped in for Dave, joined the group. Now  the members of Poptart Monkeys are Paul Reddon, lead vocals;
James Balogach, bass guitarist and background vocals; Bill Talanca, guitarist and background vocals; Chris Kurtz, guitarist and background vocals;
and
Rob Hampton, percussions.
