ABOUT PRETORIA SAILING CLUB
Pretoria Sailing Club caters for dinghy sailing at its Rietvlei Dam venue near Pretoria, where class racing is encouraged in a large number of classes ranging from the Optimist and Dabchick for juniors to the International Flying Dutchman for those who like to go fairly fast.
Pretoria Sailing Club is the largest dinghy club on the Highveld and conducts racing on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the sailing season, which starts in August and runs through to May.
Rietvlei Dam is situated in the Rietvlei Nature Reserve and Pretoria Sailing Club is fortunate to have sole use of the water with no motor boating being allowed.
The club has a large club building, galley facilities, a play area for small children, good showers, etc. An active social programme takes place throughout the season. Sail training courses for adult and junior members are held regularly. Covered boat parking is available, although limited.
Access to the club is via the R21 freeway (Pretoria - Kempton Park). Take the Irene / Rietvlei exit. Go to the `Maps' link on the Home Page for a more detailed view of the access. Also refer to the section on Access to PSC (button on Home Page) for information on how to get past the security barriers.
