I'm in a desert,
But the sun is gone.
It's cold and dreary,
And the days are too long.
I search for warmth.
I find none.
When will this desolation
Be done?
I'm swimming in an ocean.
But the waters all gone.
All that's left is the salt,
That fills my wounds.
Creatures surround me
That are struggling for breath,
As the dry plains of these
Evaporated waters,
Bring them their death.
I'm in a mine;
But all the gold is gone.
Stripped from the walls,
Where it glimmered for so long.
All that's left is rock and dust.
I search for a glimmer,
But find just empty veins
That have lost their glory.
I search for love,
But my heart is gone.
Torn out years ago
By the ones who were wrong.
I try to trust,
Only fears remain.
Will I ever break down
This wall of pain?
