March 21-April 19 The Ram Ariens are famed for their fiery, positive, outgoing natures. Considered among the most enthusiastic of the zodiac signs. They have high energy levels and often fast paced lifestyles. They are also straightforward in outlook, highly competitive and loves taking risks. Ariens do all things in their own way, with energetic determination and regardless of obstacles. Aries is represented by the Golden Ram. The Golden Ram is said to be the illicit offspring of the sea god Poseidon and the beautiful mortal Thelphane. Nephele, the queen of Boetia, found the golden, half-god ram wandering around, and asked her children, Phrixus and Helle, to take him away to Colchis and sacrafice him to Ares, the god of war. They did this, and then removed the ram's golden fleece, which was hung in the temple of Ares, guarded by a dragon, until it was claimed many years later by Jason and his famous Argonauts. Zeus, in commemoration of the ram's sacrifice, made him part of the six-starred constellation Aries. |
April 20-May20 The Bull Taureans are famed for their romanticism, reliability, and charm, and they are often reputed to be the most beautiful people among all the zodiac. Warm, affectionate, and sincere, they inspire confidence and loyalty in those around them. Taureans have a great need for financial and personal security. They love luxury, comfort, and beautiful things. They are also slow to anger, but when aroused, they can be fearsome. The Bull is an extraordinary creature famed for his contradictory characteristics of fearsome strength, passionate sexuality, and graceful gentility. Zeus, the king of the Greeks' gods and goddesses, fell in love with Europa, the famously beautiful daughter of the king of Phoenicia. To get Europe's attention, Zeus turned himself into the handsomest of bulls and set about grazing in her father's herd. When Europa saw this magnificent animal, she was immediately seduced by his charm, and climbed upon his back. Zeus immediately flew them across the sea to Crete, where he changed back into his godlike form and mated with Europa, who eventually bore him three children. Grateful for the bull's help in this affair, Zeus immortalized him in the night skies as the constellation Taurus. |
May 21-June 20 The Twins Geminians are lively, restless, quick-witted, fast thinking creatures who rarely stay in one place for long. They are marvelous communicators and easily sway people to their own ideas and opinions. They detest boredom and often prefer spreading their considerable emotional and intellectual energies among a variety of tasks. This ability to do several things at once is common of the Geminians dual nature, hence the name "Twins". The downfall is the inability to settle down with one person or thing, which can lead to the appearance of shallowness and a tendency to look over great details in their life. As the myth goes, Zeus the king of the gods, disguised himself as a swan and seduced the mortal Leda. From their union, Leda produced two eggs. One egg produced a god and goddess, Pollux and Helen, the other a mortal brother and sister, Castor and Clytemnestra. Castor and Pollux became inseparable friends who grew up together, were famed athletes, and later fought together. When Castor was killed in battle, Pollux was inconsolable. Zeus, moved by this brotherly love, made Castor an immortal, and placed the brothers side by side in Gemini, so they could be together for eternity. |

June 21-July 22 The Crab Sensitive but often crabby, imaginatively creative and artistically gifted, Cancerians are among the most challenging of the zodiac signs to get to know. Like the crab that symbolizes their sign, they often present a hard, crusty, even impenetrable exterior to the world, and can appear withdrawn, cool, and reserved. Beneath the shell, however, lies an emotional and sensitive soul with great reserves of compassion and intuition. Like the crab, Cancerians are also tenacious and protective of their home turf and make for fiercely protective and loyal parents and freinds. As the Cancerian story goes, King Eurystheus of Greece assigned Hercules 12 dangerous tasks in atonement for killing his own wife and children. The first task was to slay and skin the much feared lion of Nemea. Hercules's second task was to kill the Hydra, a grotesque monster with the body of a dog, nine serpent-entwined heads, and breath so foul that it poisoned anyone who got close enough for a whiff. Hercules had trouble slaying the Hydra. The goddess Hera sent a giant crab to attack him while he was fighting the Hydra. Hercules crushed the crab underfoot and went on to dispatch the Hydra. Grateful for the crab's help, Hera placed it within the constellation of Cancer. |

Radiantly enthusiastic, magnanimous with their charm and gifts, and fiercely proud and confident, Leo's love and live life to the fullest and expect, indeed need, to be at the helm at home, work, or play. Wonderfully affectionate, dramatic, and creative, there are many Leo's among the actors of the world. Leo's hate small mindedness and nit-picking. But they themselves are occasionally stubborn, autocratic, and dogmatic. When Hercules was assigned to his 12 tasks, his first task was to slay the much feared lion of Nemea. This was no ordinary lion, of course, he was immortal. When Hercules was unsuccessful in shooting the lion with a bow and arrow, he resorted to a sword and finally to a club, but the lion simply yawned at Hercules's efforts. Hercules then decided to choke the lion to death, and finally succeeded. For the lions strength and honor, Zeus immortalized him in the constellation Leo. |

They tend at times to be too facile and laid-back and heve earned an undeserved reputation for laziness. In fact, they can be hard workers and are often leaders in their fields. Libra, the sign of the scales, of balance, and of justice, is not associated with any mythological figure. In fact, it is the only sign not represented by any animal or human figure. Instead, Libra is associated with a judgment day, whose origins are traced back to ancient Egypt and the Book of the Dead. In that book, the merit of a man's soul is measured by weighing his heart against a feather representing truth. The four starred constellation named Libra lies closest to Scorpio. |

Sagittarians interests in both physical and intellectual pursuits underscore their versatile natures and are clearly related to the dual nature of the Archer who symbolizes the sign and who represents the centaur Chiron. A half man-half horse god who was famed for wisdom and bravery. Sagittarians are often unabashedly optomistic, who draw the admiration and affection of all those they encounter. Sagittarius the Archer is no ordnary bow-man, but is in fact one of the legendary centaurs of Greek mythology. One such centaur, Chiron, a son of the god Saturn, was much admired for his kindness and great knowledge. Chiron became a beloved teacher to some of mythology's greatest figures, including Hercules, Archilles, and Jason The Argonaut. Accidentally injured by one of Hercules's poisonous arrows, Chiron suffered all the agonies of a painfull death, but being a god, could not die. And so he gave away his immortality to the long-suffereing Prometheus, took Prometheus's place, and finally found peace in death.
