Well I found that the car i had been robbing little parts off of had a crane xr700 electronic ignition in it.  My car was lacking top end power, had poor idle and really just needed points but with a free crane system at my fingertips i decided to go ahead and do it.  This was an almost new part, the box was still laying on the floor with instructions and everything in the parts car so i just removed the stuff in the distributor and started on my car.
Well when you start your door looks like this, the first step is to take off all the handles and stuff, its not hard.  The armrest is held on by two philips head screws, the grab handle has two also, the end caps pop off if you pry them up a little.  The opening handle has one screw right in the middle, you have to pry off the center cover peice to get to it.  The window handle has a clip thing on it, i used a small screw driver and a little pair of pliers to get it out, also thers the lock knob on top the door that has to be taken off, it just screws off.
Ok now you should have a pile of peices like this, you can see the wholes for the arm rest screws as well as the little window crank clip sitting on top the arm rest.  Also the only three tools i used to get the think apart, two screw drivers and a litlte pair of pliers! Now just pull back around the sides of the panel and then lift if up and off the door.  There are little clips around the edges you should here pop when you pull back, then it should just slip right off the top of the door.
Then your left with a door that looks like this, and....
a panel that looks like this.  A great chance to really scrub that thing clean!
Now peel back that plastic, dont rip it.  Then all the lock and release junk is in the far back hole, the tall vertical one.
Well thats the hole, if you enlarge it you can kinda see into it.  My problem was one of the rods in there poped out of place, i just put it back and sprayed an ass load of WD 40 in there.
Now just put everything back together the same way you took it apart only in reverse.  This fixed my locks and so im happy.  I used 3m spray adhesive to glue the plastic back onto my doors.  Other then that they go back together real easy.  Hope this helps ya!
