| 1/18/2005 I was asked to go to the Strength To Stand conference over this past weekend as a chaperone for the youth group of my parent's church. It ROCKED!! Everything did: the speakers, the music, and if I had to pick a favorite part of the conference itself, I would have to pick the music. I don't know exactly why, but it really stuck out to me. But the greatest thing about it were all my close friends on this trip. I was able to spend pretty much all weekend with them. We played mofia all the way there, and after arriving, I soon learned that elevators have recreational uses. Our first night there some of us stayed on the elevator and met new people as they traveled between floors. One of guys from another church group played his guitar on it for everyone riding on board, and one of our guys started a card game in the floor. My room had an Xbox hooked up in it, and people would wonder into it when they noticed us playing Halo 2. There was at least one guy, who no one even knew, who just walked in to watch for a bit. Paul and Andrew take the cake for being the best laser-taggers. Elizabeth was our best bull-rider, though it was a close competition between her and Charlie. And my meager skills won me an audience playing DDR. It was set on its easiest setting, but apparently I was the only one there who could consistently complete a song on any setting, so there were a lot of people watching. And, yeah, I know Greg and many others are insanely better than I am at the game, but that's why it was so funny and memorable for me. :P I've got pleanty of pictures mostly from the hotel, but there are a few other locations featured in them as well. I hope to have those up on the site soon. --Robert |
