| Hailing from Guisborough, in the
North East, Beneath Utopia is a one man operation consisting of
Ian Lipthorpe on vocals, guitars, bass, drums and keyboards, and
have been writing and recording material since 1996. Early material
displayed a strong Bolt Thrower influence, but since then, the
sound has evolved into what it is today - a combination of the
ferocity of death metal with the groove and dynamics of nu-metal,
the drive of thrash metal, the hooks of trad metal, the bleakness
of black metal and the sheer warp speed of grindcore - hard-hitting
brutality with a more song based approach, still heavy but with
songs you can remember, rather than just a collection of riffs.
Influences range from bands like Napalm Death,
Carcass and Paradise Lost to Machine Head, The Haunted and Raging
Speedhorn, but the sound is 100% Beneath Utopia.

Since ‘96, four albums worth of material
have been recorded in demo form, with only the last three being
made available to the public - ‘96's ‘Something to
fear’, ‘Underdog’ from ‘99 (from which
the track ‘Self Importance’, featured on ‘Kill
Your Management Vol.2', is taken) and 'The World is Beautiful,
just don't look down' (featuring 'Rise Above' from 'Kill Your
Management Vol. 4'). The first release has been re-recorded and
is also now available.
