Broken & Torn

By Simmy

If I can’t rely on you to be there
You might as well take your shit elsewhere.
You can’t remember promises you make
And you don’t seem to care who you break.
I try to shield you out and away
But memories and love stand fast and stay.

I can’t get rid of this reserve
And I’m not getting what I deserve.
I wish I could lock you out
But I can’t not love you now.
A part of you just stays
And never goes away.

You laugh and smile and enjoy these days
You dance in the flowers and sun rays.
So I can’t say what’s on my mind
Since you’re in the place I long to find.
The place peace and simplicity
Is the only place where I can’t be me.
So I get no relief
And wallow in grief
And see you picture perfect
