Poor Ally

By Simmy

Ally entered small and scared
Always hid behind her glare
Sulking beauty unprepared for all
The plunges she would take.

Ally grew up much too fast
And learned that nothing ever lasts
And no one ever leaves the past behind
It's always lurking there.

Poor Ally
Poor Ally
Poor Ally, Ally's gone away
Poor Ally
Poor Ally
Poor Ally disappeared today

Ally grew and learned to smile
Still pretending all the while
And everyone for miles around could see
How life was just for fun.

When the rain began to fall
Ally built towering walls
To shut out everything and everyone
Except for one best friend.

Ally's friend was just like her
Running, scared, and in terror
Of everything the world had thrown at her.
And Ally loved her much.

CHORUS

Ally and her friend found out
Running was tiring, no doubt about it
So they found a way for them to fly
A way to ease the pain

They both flew through junior high
Two years of high school passed them by
A realization and a bottle of pills
Interrupted junior year.

Ally's parents found her soon
Passed out on the floor in her room
And got her to the hospital in time
To save her wilting life.

CHORUS

Ally rebounded and started to work
Studied hard while her friend smirked
Knowing she'd be back it wouldn't last
And she was much too right

Ally soon went off to school
She always made her own rules
And when things didn't always go her way
Vodka soothed her soul.

Ally drank and smoked all day
Passing useless time away
Drowned her sorrows in a sea of beer
And eased her mind with weed.

Ally's life was just a string
Of shots and blunts and not a thing
Could change her now her friend hadn't thought to try
Her friend was always stoned

CHORUS

Ally's now dropped out of school
Stays at home and plays the fool
And she's been drinking every day for months
She says she wants to change.

Alcohol now rules her life
Well that and grief and fear and strife
She's in way too deep to survive
But I still love her.

Poor Ally
Not Ally
Why Ally, or anyone at all?
My Ally
Sweet Ally
Beautiful Ally hit the wall.
