Materia is the source of magic of the Final Fantasy VII world. It is said that it holds the key to the power and knowledge of the Ancients or Cetra. There are Five different types of materia in the game. They are Magic, Support, Summon, independent, and command materia. These materia's make up what is called the "Materia System". What makes this system great is that you can take any type of magic materia and equip it on any character instead of having just one character build up there skills on there own.
