Straight Street (1998 to 1999) - My very first band! It was punkish/hardcore type stuff. Our hit song "Mullet" will be remembered forever and go down in history as one of the catchiest songs ever. I am proud to have written the music for that song. The band consisted of me on drums, Jay (my brother) on bass (who had started playing bass AFTER we formed the band), and Brenton Vaughan on guitar. I think S.S. played a total of like 3 shows. After recording a 9 song demo S.S. broke up due to lack of shows and just basically not caring.
ReDeam (2000) - This was fun while it lasted. Back in the day there was this band called DEAM and they broke up. Me and my boy Eric London wanted to start a band after Straight Street Broke up. Eric and Shawn (formerly of DEAM) wanted to start a band so the three of us jammed a few times and that was that. While this was going on our friend J Vandyke and Tod (formerly of DEAM) were starting a band too but needed more memebers. Well, we had this brilliant idea that we would just combine bands and make one big band. So that was the birth of a 6-member rapcore/rock/groovy band called ReDEAM! This band consisted of me on drums, Eric and J on vocals, Shawn on vocals and guitar, Tod on guitar, some kid Dave (I think that was his name) on bass, and... I think that was it. I think we wrote 1 original song and then played cover songs and DEAM songs. We had 1 show!!! But it was a fun show. Zack (former DEAM bassist) filled in for Dave that show. After that show the band broke up and DEAM got back together, only to break up again and eventually become Dioxide. J went on and formed a band called Carpe Diem, and Eric formed a band called Fedup (which I was in for a little while but didn't play any shows with). I don't know what's up with Zack or Dave but I'm sure they're doing just fine!!
Fedup (2000) - Me and Eric had just gotten informed that ReDEAM had broken up so we were on the search for our next band. We got together with this dude Mike who played guitar and wrote a few songs. The style was basically nu metal/rock (it was cooler than it sounds!). I eventually left the band because we weren't really doing much but Eric continued the band. The official lineup was Eric on vocals, Mike on guitar, Rob on bass, and a different Brian on drums.
Statement of Purpose (2000 to 2002) - I was asked to play for this new punk band called Statement of Purpose that Jay, Brenton, and Corey Stroffolino were starting. The first lineup was me on drums, jay on bass and vocals, brenton on guitar and vocals, and corey on guitar and vocals.
Jay, Brenton, and Corey didn't all sing at once. They kinda just switched. It didn't sound too appealing to me but it was something to do so I started playing drums for them. The songs that were written were definitly better than Straight Street songs but I still wasn't really into it. There was a battle of that bands at Bethel High School so we entered that. This was only a few weeks after we started the band. We played and the crowd response was really great. We won the battle of the bands which was a total shock for us. That night gave us hope that maybe we could take this band further than Straight Street, which didn't really go anywhere. Our first real show was at the Empress Ballroom (yes, I do take credit for bringing a WHOLE lot of people there) which I booked for us. They threw us on last after the big band that played. Again, the crowd response for us was amazing. We kept writing songs and playing a few shows here and there. Eventually Corey became the main vocalist and stopped playing guitar for SoP. Our style kept changing with every song. In the beginning we had mostly punk songs. After a while we started writing our own style of metalcore. We began playing bigger shows with bigger bands. The biggest highlight was playing with ZAO, who was a huge influence for us. Before the big ZAO show Corey told us that he would be leaving the band for his own personal reasons. We were cool with that and wished him the best of luck. We played a few shows with Brenton and Jay filling in on vocals. After one show at the Empress our friend Jym (Last Kyd Picked) talked to us about starting a side project called "Her Last Breath". We all agreed to it. The lineup would have been me, Jay, Brenton, Jym, and Corey. We practiced once, wrote the song
"Of Soldiers And Thieves", and then decided it would make more sense if Jym just sang for Statement of Purpose. Jym agreed to this and the next incarnation of SoP was born. We played many shows all around with many great bands. Eventually we decided it was time for SoP to come to an end. There were too many conflicts between members being in other bands. I missed playing in SoP and asked Brenton and Jay if they wanted to start up again. They agreed and so SoP version 3 was born. We wrote a whole new set of songs and just needed a vocalist. We advertized and found Dave from "Monday is Ladies Night". Everything was set, but unfortunatly the attitude was messed up and there was no commitment. There was only one performance by the new SoP. Clips of the last SoP jam can be found on Youtube.
Forever Stops Now (2003) - This is my electronic solo project. Originally I titled it "Psycho Bri" but I wanted something a little less stupid. Forever Stops Now was the title of an SoP that I wrote lyrics for. The music is all experimental electronic stuff that I make on the computer. I'm really happy about the way it's coming out. I have a CD that you can order on mp3.com (2007 update- it doesn't exist anymore). Check it out!
Jay Go's hXc! (2003) - Two unreleased SoP songs + two brand new hardcore songs + an intro + a piano track = Jay's hXc demo. Everything was written by Jay. If you play guitar or bass and are interested in starting a band e-mail Jay at [email protected]. 2007 update- check out Make Amends at www.myspace.com/makeamendsct.
Withdrawn / Wandering Eyes (2003 & 2007) - A grunge band I started but never finished. Very Nirvana. Members = me & Nate Faus. 2007 update- This ended up not ever happening due to Nate is in a mental hospital for good. It's a shame because these were some of my favorite songs ever written by anyone.
2008 update: In the summer of 2007 we went on to become "Wandering Eyes" and recruited Dan Brady on bass. We played 2 shows and then broke up. Nate died in 2008 due to complications at the hospital. He will always be remembered by everyone that ever met him and will always be a musical legend to the people that mattered most in his life. RIP NATE 1983-2008.
The Asian Invasion (9/12/03) - This was a one time thing with me, Jay, and Corey. The night before, we found out about the show so we threw together a cover band in less than a day. We covered songs by Stretch Arm Strong, Norma Jean, LIYW, Thursday, and played one of Jay's original songs. SWEET!
ZuS (2001 - 2004) - My new band! This band was originally started a few years ago but I joined in Nov. 2003. The band broke up in 2004.
Eva Rose/Amongst the Living (2004 - 2005) - An evolution of Zus. This band is made up of me on drums, Andy on vocals, Paul on guitar (who played in ZuS for the last few months), and Eric on bass. We played a few shows and called it quits. Generic metalcore.
Shai Hulud (2006) - I played drums for Shai Hulud in Spring and Summer of 2006. I played my last show with them in July I believe. I am so done with hardcore it's not even funny. NO PLANS FOR ANY FUTURE BANDS.
MOROI (2008-present) - Andy called me and asked me to fill in for his band's upcoming shows. I had nothing going on musically so I agreed. I've been playing ever since and can honestly say that this is my favorite band I've ever been a part of. The music is right up my ally; heavy but not trying to sound like everything else. This is also the first time I've ever had a female in the band. Like the bio on our page says: we're here to have a good time. Super fun, I hope we go on for years!
