The Fire Within
By. Karla W. Pritchett
The heat from the sun
does not compare
to that which burns within
the deep essence of our being.
From the bottom of dying oxygen craving embers,
to the tips of blue edged flames of gold
fury and passion errpt
comsuming everything innocent in its path.
Fueled by hunger
driven by natural and uncontrolable desires,
it is unstoppable.
I inhale the very air we share
filling my body with oxygen
and the passionate embers
come to life,
flickering hungry flames within.
I burn so that I may live
and the glorious phoenix
rises once again from the ash
and consumes me with
the heat of passion and fury of desire.
