Tools of the Craft
I'm going to start out with the main tools then get into more diverse tools and abilites.
Most religions make use of certain items and tools in rituals, and Wicca is no exception.  The use of these tools in often misconceived among most people.  Tools are symbolic, and do have purposes.  As witches, it is important that we learn about all fo these and their true purpose in magick.  It is not necessary to have tools.  If you're not comfortable with tools, you don't need to use them.  They can be useful but there's no need to be uncomfy *_~
A tool needs to be right for you, you don't need to follow the traditional look of a tool.  My athame is an old steak knife, I tried the other more traditional ones, but they weren't right for me, so I don't use them.

The Athame: An athame is usually a dull double-edged knife or dagger.  It usually has a dark or black handle.  The athame is never used to cut or draw blood.  It is used to direct energy and is usually used to cast a circle.  Symbols, words, and runes are sometimes carved into the handle.
~The athame is the tool of the East, and of Air, but in some traditions and rituals it is the tool of fire.  The athame is a masculine tool and is linked to the God.

The Pentacle: The pentacle is usually a flat piece of brass, gold, silver, wood, wax or clay, with certain symbols etched into it.  The most common symbol is the pentagram (an open-work five-pointed star).  The pentacle is a tool of protection and power, and is used in envoke spirits.  In Wicca, the pentacle is a tool of the earth, and is used to consecrate amulets and charms.  It is also used sometimes to summon the Gods and Goddesses.

Note: When only one point of the pentagram is facing upwards this generally means, mind over matter (akasha over the elements).  When the two points of the star are facing upwards it means, matter over mind (the elements over akasha).
