PSYCHO LOVERS
"Unsuccessfully Coping With the Beauty of Psychosis"
submitted by "Tom" on October 19th, 2000

I was in love (or so I thought!) with a young lady that I will only identify as "Donna", and was pretty happy being with her for about a year or so. Then Valentines day comes along, and being far from a rich man, I decided to set up a dinner at my house, with my best friend acting as butler and waiter. "Donna" shows up at my house, and I gave her an overly expensive collectible that she wanted, ballons, roses and other flowers, candy and a very pricey gold necklace (Needless to say, I went overboard for her, but I figured she was worth it!). We had dinner, and we were planning on going to a movie afterwards. So, before we left, I decided to clean up the dinner dishes, and began to do so. Suddenly... WHAM! I see stars, and when I can see clearly, I see a very heavy lead crystal serving dish on the floor at my feet. Naturally, I was like "What the f***!" Turning around to question her about it, seeing that only her and I were in the house (my best friend had left in order to give us some privacy, and was supposed to meet "Donna" and I with his current girlfriend at the movies later.)... and that's when it got really wierd. As it turns out, it was "Donna" sitting there, but it also sorta wasn't - the look in her eyes was different, the way she carried herself was different and even her movements seemed different, yet it was "Donna". It is hard to actually explain in words actually, but as I found out a few days later she suffered from multiple personality disorder in addition to having a bi-polar condition. It had been pretty much under control for the past few years, but had decided to surface at that moment. Over the next few months, I struggled with my feelings for "Donna" and my utter hatred of this "other" person that shared her body. A few examples of what this other personality did to me in the last few weeks of our relationship included running thousands of dollars up in credit card bills, over $1000 in cellular long distance charges and dest royed my car. Her family's "explanation" for this disorder was that "she was conceived as part of a set of twins, and her sister died at birth." Thus I was expected to believe that this alternate personality became embedded in her psyche. Ummm... yeah okay... whatever! Needless to say, I have nothing to do with "Donna" anymore, nor have I in over 2 years. I am with a caring young woman now, and I am happier than I have ever been in my life...

EDITOR'S NOTE:

We have recieved word from this submitter that he is no longer with the young lady mentioned at the end of this story, but is in fact with another young lady. He has informed us that things failed to work between himself and the aforementioned young lady, but he seems entirely confident that the young woman he is in a relationship with now is the woman whom he will be with as his soul-mate. We wish him and his new lady-friend all the luck in the future!
