My ex, "Sam", is an absolute lunatic. He's on a "Mormon mission" in
Canada, and as such, has to abide by certain rules. He's not allowed to make
phone calls or use email, and can only write letters to communicate with people
back at home. He was a lame boyfriend, someone I rebounded with at age 18. After
he left for his 2-year mission (during which I would never see him or speak with
him), he asked me to "wait" for him, which I wouldn't. I dumped him and started
dating numerous other men. He had been out on his mission for 17 months when he
started writing and calling me obsessively. My roommates would say I wasn't
home, and I'd rip up his letters. Then, (against his religious rules) He began emailing me from a local library
several times a week, begging for any communication. When I wouldn't respond, he
hacked into my email account and began forwarding emails that friends had
written to me, containing both their and my personal info, to my parents and random
emails of professors that I had in my address list. "Sam" wrote my current boyfriend, telling him that I'll ruin his life and
break his heart, just like I broke his ("Sam's".) He said that he has made
"special covenants with God" that cause him to tell the truth, so my new
boyfriend should know that he's not lying about how terrible I am. "Sam" is trying
to embarrass me to my parents and friends, and has failed miserably--he broke
into my email and called my house, berating my roommates, all the while on a
"mission". He never considered that he was breaking the rules of his mission, not
to mention the law. I called his mission president and discussed copies of
perverse sexual letters "Sam" has written me, emails he's written, and constant
phone calls. In an effort to hurt me, he's made himself a laughingtock of the
college town in which we both lived, and in which I still live. He has 5-6
months left on his mission, and the story is already spreading like an urban
legend. I'm actually happy he did all of this, since he's getting bitten in the @$$ with a ruined reputation!
