The Raven
Corvus
September 29 - October 11
The constellation of Corvus, the Raven, stands on the back of Hydra, the Sea Serpent, south of the celestial equator. Its main stars form a trapezoidal figure which can be easily recognized to the south west of Virgo. Beside it, to the west, is another similar shaped but fainter group of stars which form the constellation of Crater, the Cup. Corvus can be seen in the Spring, low on the southern horizon, from the northern hemisphere, but is a more prominent constellation from the south of the equator.
