The Charioteer
Auriga
June 8 - 16
Due north of Orion, the Great Huntsman, lies Aurica, the constellation of the Charioteer. Capella, the Goat Star, which is its brightest star and lies nearest to the pole, was the patron star of ancient Babylon and was thought of in India as the heart of Brahma. It is the sixth brightest star in the sky and is due overhead in mid January in the northern hemisphere, when it can also be seen, low on the Northern horizon, from the southern hemisphere.
