God or Goddess???
It has begun to fascinate me how many people refer to God has "He".  As though God needs a sex.  I understand the basic premise behinde assigning a sex to God, because we need something physical to identify with, so we transfer thought of God into a human form.  However, for me, I feel if I am to assign a sex to God, I would be much more apt to consider God to be female, and refer to her as Goddess.  After all, God is the barer of all creation, and that in nature has been a womans purpose.

When we really take it into careful consideration, for tens of thousands of years people have almost always worshiped a Goddess, a female form of a diety.  It is really only recenlty in the last 2000 years that we have focused on a male diety, known as God.  Why is this?  Is this because the Bible was written FOR MEN by MEN?  Does the bible consider women to be secondary citizens and therefore could never have considered a woman as a Lord?  I don't mean to be a feminist anarchist pagan here, but in my opinion, the way the bible has been interpreted sees women as lesser than men, and it has fed the chauvenistic perception of women for centuries.

I have found in worshiping The Creator, The Divine, The Supreme Being and in my mind viewing that being as a female has changed my view of myself as a woman as well as my view of women in general.  Look at what amazing creatures we are!!  How enpowered we are in the way we live our lives, think, process, create life, nurture and protect.  It has helped me to become less critical of my own body and my own female form.  I see myself as an image of The Goddess, and therefore beautiful.

I don't think my diety and sorce of worship is any different really than any one elses, wether you call yourself Christian, Pagan, Muslim, or anything else.  I worship The Creator, The Divine One.  It is only in my mind I feel more connected if I view that Being as a woman, or female form.  I have taken to surrounding myself with all images of The Goddess.  I have images of her I wear around my neck, I have produced clay sculpures of her and have her image on my altars.

Now I am not one to say that my truth should be everyone's truth.  We must all find what we believe in on our own and search for that thing that resonates in our souls.  For one, it may be worshiping a male God, for others it may be worshiping a female Goddess, for still yet others, it may be worshiping both the Mother & Father God, or The Goddess and The God.  Whatever it is for you, the important thing is that your connected with The Divine.  I can't really think that The Creator is out there somewhere really caring what we call it, what sex we think it is, or what images we assign to it.  The important thing is that we are in a place of caring, beauty, peace and love, and projecting those things out to the world.  I also can't really believe that The Creator is out there really overly concerned with what titles we give ourselves.  Religion is a man made thing, not a Creator-made thing.  So if your of a particular religion, please respect the beliefs of others.  Your's is probably NOT the right and ONLY way.  It is your truth, but respect others enough to allow them to find their truth as well, even if it's different than yours.  Namaste
