Aromatherapy
I have just recently begun using aromatherapy in my home and in my life.  I have found it to be an awesome discovery and I am eager to learn more and more as I am able.  But I will share what I know with you here.  Alot of what I have learned about it has come from a terrific book by Denise Linn called "Sacred Space...Clearning and enhancing the energy of your home".  It is a great book and I recommend everyone have a copy who is sensitive to the energy around them.

As we all know from experience, the sensation of smell is very closely related to our emotions.  We have all walked into a room or shop and smelled a familiar fragrance that takes us instantly back to another time and place.  The smell of rose petals, the smell of cookies baking, the smell of baby powder scented diapers just to name a few.  And each of these smells makes us feel a different way.  That's because in some cases, these frangrances actually changes or enhances our mood or senses.  I have begun keeping a spray bottle of charged water in each room.  In each of the bottles I've added a few drops of  different scents from an essential oil.  Whenever I walk into that room, I will spritz a little of the fragrant water around the room to cleanse any stagnant energy or fill the room with that aroma.  In my bedroom I use lavender, because lavender is very calming and restful.  In the bathroom I use rosewater, because rose is emotionally soothing.  In the kitchen and livingroom, I use lemon or lemongrass.  These scents are uplifting and energizing.  In my meditation room, I have a bottle of charged water with patchouli oil because it makes me feel spiritual, relaxed, peaceful and open to the energy.  Remember when your using aromatherapy to use good quality essential oils.  Synthetic oils may smell the same as essential oils, but they don't contain the energy of the plant itself as the real stuff has.  There are lots of brands out there, so try different ones, but make sure they use the words "essential oil" and that they are 100% pure.

You can also use an oil defuser which is just a small pan or bowl of oil suspended over a flame.  They also make great oil defuser rings to place over light bulbs and the heat of the light bulb defuses the oil.  But be careful with these, as some oils can scorch and it ruins the scent.  There are also little machines called vaporizers.  These can be noisy and can run a little expensive.....so shop around for a good one if your going to buy one.  But either way, the important thing is to get the aroma in the room.  I just chose the spray bottle method because it was simple.

To give you examples of what essential oils can do, I will list a few of the oils that the book Sacred Space suggests and what their uses are.
