Counter-Strike

Counter-Strike is your typical first person shooter that involves two sides killing each other. At the begining of each round, you buy weapons and equipment with the money you earn from your team winning or killing people.Yet there are millions of people playing CS everyday. What makes CS so fun to play is that every round you play is different, because all the players are like you.

Sadly Counter-Strike 1.5 is being shut down July 31st and everyone must switch to 1.6 Steam. Steam is full of bugs and glitches that 1.5 never had, as well as changing the whole experience. They added new weapons, which is good, but changed all the old ones too be slightly different. You'll know when you play it.

Now that you've got the general idea, for the fun of it I am going to review it. I might make this a habit and review games I play. I am going to base it on four catagories: Graphics, Sound, Fun and Playability. Then I will rate them on a 1-10 scale and average them out for a final score. Here we go...

Graphics

As some of you all might know, this games first version came out in 1998 as a mod for Half-Life. It soon became wildly popular after that, and the graphics were good for their time. As time passed, new versions of CS came out and added maps and better skins for the game. Now, in 2004, people are still playing this six-year old game as a competitor to most modern day titles. Even for a six-year old game, the graphics are really good. Also if the current graphics are too bland, you can change them out for way cooler looking ones from the internet or from people like yourselves, who can be pretty good modelers. Similar to the graphics, the sound effects are interchangeable. Still the sound is not amazing and there is no music. Yet no music is needed to replace the sounds of a firefight. So sound gets...

Fun

When it come to fun, this game shines. CS is easy to learn and become good, and thats one reason why so many people play it. I've already explained the general idea about the game so you know what it is about. While playing this game there will be fun parts like when you blow someones head away with a pump shotgun point-blank, but thats not the point. The point is that you will have fun interacting with the other players in order to win. The only not fun part is when your tam is getting the beatdown of their lives and do not pull out of it. Thats the time to leave and goto a game that is more even sided. The same goes for when hackers are in the server. And the fun gets...

Playability

In CS, there is infinite playability because of the fact that it is an online game. You will never know what can happen next, you can be standing around and out of nowhere, KA-BOOM... you are then blown up. The unpredictibility of this game keeps you coming back for more.
